The Lewis Christian Conference committee has announced plans for a return of the event in June 2024.
Confererence Chairman Robert France said
“It is with a real sense of joy and anticipation that we plan the return of Lewis Christian Conference following the Covid Pandemic. We are delighted that Simon Manchester, a well known Bible Teacher has agreed to travel from Australia to address the conference this year.”
Simon Manchester grew up in Sydney, Australia and worked as a gravedigger and a High school teacher before entering the ministry. He was an assistant to Dick Lucas at St. Helen’s Bishopgate, London for two years. In 1989 he began his ministry at St. Thomas Anglican Church in North Sydney where he served for thirty years. He has spoken at conferences in different parts of the world including Keswick and Katoomba and his sermons have been broadcast on Sydney Radio for over twenty years. He is active in retirement with part time work in a small church, Teaching Cornhill and taking up speaking engagements. He and his wife Kathy have three children and three small grandchildren. Simon said that they “jumped at the opportunity to re-visit Scotland”. He is author of studies and guides such as ‘At a time like this’ and ‘Short steps for long gains’.
The Conference is due to take place between Thursday 20th June and Saturday 22nd June. Simon will also preach at local churches on the Lord’s Day and speak at an evening fellowship. The conference will be held at St. Columba’s Church, Stornoway. All are welcome to attend and there is no need to book to attend the conference.
